I know him, however his tests are rather subjective and out-dated.
I wouldn't hesitate for a single moment if I had to chose between 17-35 and 17-55... FF, better stopped down, better at infinity, better resoluton, no distortion... 17-35 wins. Well, yes, it's heavier. No pain, no gain.

Well, his tests have not disapointed me yet. I usually will read as many reviews as possible these days. But very few others list any information regarding hotspots with IR filters whereas he tends to do this for almost every lens. He also seems much more thorough than most others.
